Hey Curlies,
I just wanted to update you all on my braids and how they are keeping up. I’ve had them in now for 8 weeks and that is long enough for me. Lots of people ask me why I am taking them out so early? No, this is my limit, lol.
So the braids will be coming out tomorrow and I will hopefully have assistance from my friends so that it will not take me hours! Here are a few photos:
Lots of new growth. Yay! |
They actually do not look that bad from a distance |
But at the hairline….ugh |

A few braid in the very lower back look like this. You can see where my hair ends for crying out loud. These have got to go! |
Overall, I loved having braids. They were very convenient and I didn’t have to do much to them. If you would like to know products I used and my wash routine, click here and here.
I washed them twice and resealed the ends once. Sometimes the ends of the braids looked a little rough, so I boiled some water and dipped the ends in the water.
I didn’t do many styles with them because they were still kind of tight at first and if I did any type of up-do, it pulled my hair and I wasn’t going to let that happen. I mostly wore ponytails, hair down and buns. I will say that high buns were the death of me by the end of the day. My neck felt like it was straining, my head was heavy and I had a headache.
In other news…
Today I went to Target and bought the Kinky Curly line. The only one I did not get was the spritz. I had been wanting to try this line since summer 2011 and I finally got it. All three were quiet expensive, but hopefully its worth it. I will have product reviews soon!
I can’t wait to get my hair back! I’ll have photos and products soon!
