Welcome to my world!
While I am all of the above, I come with formal training. While my journalism degree has led me to several newsrooms (at historic black newspapers and TV stations) and my life as a social media manager, it helped me find my greater purpose: the ClassyCurlies platform.
How it all started
Curiosity + Greatness
I couldn’t stop staring at all of those beautiful women with luscious curls on YouTube. Although the natural hair space was still relatively new in 2010, those videos sparked curiosity into what my own natural hair texture looked like. I launched ClassyCurlies as a way to practice my writing and document my natural hair journey in December 2010. I had no idea what I was doing was called a “blog” until I later took a journalism class where we had to create our own. Now I tell myself, “Hey, I was blogging all of that time.”
What we do today
Empowerment + Education
This “little” blog turned into an even “bigger” blog over the years. It wasn’t until someone stopped me 
on the street for the first time to praise the site that I realized, “Wow, this is something” and “I’m not just a closet writer.” Over the past seven years, ClassyCurlies.com has empowered thousands of women by providing a space they can seek curly hair care advice while boosting their self-confidence. While it still captures my natural hair journey, it provides education on living a more healthier and positive life outside of “normal” beauty standards through our healthy living series.
