Hey, Curlies!

No matter the season, I love a good spray moisturizer to refresh my curly hair. Since I have very tight curls, they absorb water and become dryer much faster than other hair types. This is why I always keep a spray moisturizer on my dresser.

I use these moisturizers in the morning when getting ready to leave my home or sometimes before bed if my hair feels dry. It’s a great and quick way to add moisture to your hair without washing your hair all over again. Think of it as a pick-me-up for your hair.

Seeing as I love to make my own beauty products, I wanted to share some of the do-it-yourself (DIY) spray moisturizers you can make at home. I’ll also drop some of my favorite store bought ones if you’re in a pinch.

DIY recipes

Right now, I’m all about rosewater. I purchased my first bottle from Wonder Curl some years ago (which they no longer sell). From there I learned how easy it was to make and added my own twist to it.

Rosewater is an anti-inflammatory and great at providing moisture. It can be used lightly on hair to moisturize, as a facial toner, and skin refresher on hot days. There is so much it can do – especially for those with dry hair, skin and scalps. It can help calm irritation.

make it classy diy rosewater

You can learn to make this organic lavender rosewater recipe with our Make It Classy DIY beauty box.

The reason why I choose to make my own rosewater is because many of the store bought brands come with other ingredients. Some of them are synthetic oils and others are harmful chemicals. Learn to make yours here. (Use GRATITUDE for 20% off)

I also love a good spray moisturizer made with aloe, which we all know is great for burns, but works well for dry hair and skin too.

You’ll want to grab a spray bottle, aloe vera juice (fresh from the plant – here is the tutorial) or bottled (try this one), distilled water (no tap!), and your favorite essential oil (here are suggestions for hair usage).

Add half aloe vera and half water with 3-5 drops of your essential oil and you’re good to go. Feel free to spray it onto your hair when it feels dry.

Store-bought spray moisturizers

While much of my hair care routine involves DIY beauty products, I do still love some store-bought products. One of my favorites for moisturizing hair on the go is Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave In Conditioner.

Although it’s not completely natural, its main ingredient is aloe vera, which I love. You can find it on their website or in most Target stores.

Are there any others you use and love? Drop them in the comments.
