Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair: How to, Benefits

There are so many household items that can be used for beauty purposes, and apple cider vinegar is one of them.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a very strong solution and can be helpful for your skin and hair. It's made from fermented apples, and we know the many health benefits apples have.

Once they have gone through the fermenting process, the bottles you find in stores have vitamins B1, B2, B6, folic acid, magnesium, calcium and other minerals good for your body and healthy hair growth.

ACV is antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal and has tons of benefits.

Here's how I like to include ACV into my natural hair regimen:

• Add a small amount to my shampoo for a more powerful clean
• Combine it with water and apply to the scalp only just before shampooing

I apply the ACV to my scalp similarly as I do my DIY herbal hair rinse. Watch below:

ACV acts as a clarifier. It helps remove product build up for the scalp. This is especially good for those who suffer from an itchy scalp. It's also great for those who wear protective styles often.

Here's how you can use it in your routine:

• Protective styles: If you've worn a protective style for weeks at a time (braids, twists, locs, etc.), chances are, you haven't had a chance to cleanse your hair properly. Once you remove the style, you may notice product buildup. To help your shampoo do a big job, you can combine 1 part ACV with 3 parts water. Apply it only to the scalp using a squeeze bottle with a nozzle tip. Let sit for 5 minutes before shampooing normally.
• Itchy scalp: Since apple cider vinegar is anti-viral, it may help clear up any scalp conditions you're experiencing. Combine 1 part ACV with 3 parts water and grab a cotton ball. Dip the cotton ball into the solution and apply directly to the scalp.

NOTE: When buying ACV from the store, make sure you're purchasing the most authentic version. You'll want the brand that includes "the mother" inside the bottle. This is the strongest compound of ACV. I trust brands like Bragg and Aldi. Buy it here.
