Hey Curlies,

I think I’ve got a new obsession – and it’s not related to natural hair. It’s all about pink Himalayan salt lamps and rocks.

One night, my boyfriend brought up the idea of buying a pink Himalayan salt lamp for our home and raved about the benefits. Little did I know, he was secretly trying to get my opinion on them so he could gift me one for my birthday.

The trick worked, and I immediately began researching the benefits of using pink Himalayan salt lamps. A few months later, I was given one for my birthday and cannot sit in my office without turning it on. It’s like an office ritual.

It provides a warm glow along with some other pretty cool health advantages.

Discovering pink Himalayan salt

I first began using pink Himalayan salt in the kitchen in 2016 and completely ditched the table salt (which is horrible for your body by the way).

According to Livestrong, it contains 84 minerals and is  “relatively high in iron, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, potassium and chloride. It also contains traces of boron, fluoride, iodine, zinc, selenium and copper, all of which are necessary for bodily health.”

So what does a pink Himalayan salt lamp do for your health?

It’s made out of a block of salt crystal with a hole in its bottom to allow light to pass.

The lamps are particularly good for eliminating airborne bacteria and allergens like dust and pollen, according to LiveStrong. This is mostly why I use my lamp.

Beside the health benefits, I love the soft amber glow it gives. It’s great for a cozy, calming or romantic atmosphere.

I don’t know about you, but personal space is sacred to me, and I love a room to have “flow” and natural light when I’m working.

Interested in getting your own? You can buy pink Himalayan salt – made for cooking – at most grocery stores. Just a heads up, it’s more expensive than table salt, but the health benefits are worth it. Plus it lasts much longer.

Pink Himalayan salt lamps can be found in stores like Whole Foods, but mine was ordered online from Amazon.
