Hey Curlies,
I’ve noticed over the past few months, beside my mini twists, I haven’t been wearing twisted styles as much. I constantly find myself “doing” my hair. This is due to the humidity swelling up my hair throughout the day and ruining my style. Basically, I haven’t worn many styles that tend to last the entire week.
At one point my entire hair regimen involved only two strand twists which were very beneficial. I didn’t experience much breakage and I retained a lot of length. I would like to go back to this stage so I decided to twist up my hair.
Originally I was looking to band my hair as an alternative to blow drying, but I waited too late in the day and my hair wouldn’t have been dry by twisting time.
I washed using Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo and conditioned with TRESemme Naturals. I left my hair to dry in a towel for about 45 minutes (while I napped haha) and then began the ever dreaded blow drying process.
I blow dried in eight sections, twisting each as I finished just keeping them out of the way. This process took about 35 minutes (record time for me!).
I was going for medium sized twists using Shea butter, but over time some of them became a lot smaller. After completing each twist, I trimmed by ends (about 1/2 inch). The bottoms of the twists are a sure way to point out scruffy ends. I then decided to pin up all my twists in a circular motion using bobby pins.
I plan on wearing this style for at least a week, but I’m hoping for two! This is a great protective style. Fingers crossed!
