Hey Curlies,

I’m back with part two of the “Stretching my Natural Hair” series. If you missed part one, you can find it here.

Yesterday I washed my hair using Urbanaire Gypsy’s Cray Cray Clay Co-Wash then proceeded to stretch my hair.

In my last post I talked about the banding method, but this time I used another similar method called African Threading. This uses thread wrapped around the length of the hair in order to keep it in a stretched state.

I purchased my crochet thread from Walmart but many people use weaving thread found at your local beauty supply store.

Because my hair is so long, I only created four sections but some people with shorter hair make smaller sections.

I applied Urbanaire Gypsy’s Namaste’ Natural Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioner to each section, detangled then proceeded to thread.

Here was the result:

I finished threading in about 50 minutes and I started around 4:30 p.m. I wanted to leave enough time for my hair to dry overnight.

See the results here.
