Hey Curlies.

brownstonezine.blogspot.com

So yesterday, I went to the mall to pick up a few things and as soon as I walked into Victoria’s Secret, I can feel this woman staring at me. As I looked up at her, she is still staring at me. Annoying right? I start to think, do I have something on my face? Do I look weird today? What’s going on? So I keep shopping and as I’m going into the checkout line, the same woman is in line in front of me.

I’m standing in line, minding my own business, when the woman turns around and says…

Woman: Your hair is beautiful!
Me: Oh thank you! (smiling)
Woman: What products do you use?

I ended up telling the woman about my blog and we began talking natural hair. Crazy right? It just goes to show that everyone who is not natural who happens to stare at you doesn’t mean they’e thinking:

  1. What’s up with her hair?
  2. I hope she’s going to get it “done” soon
  3. She doesn’t have “good hair”
  4. Who let her walk out the house like that?
People are generously curious about your hair and might absolutely be in love with it. Don’t get so offensive when you get that “natural hair stare” because we all have been there.
What has been your experience with the “natural hair stare”?
