Hey, Curlies!
Flu season and, unfortunately, other illnesses like coronavirus are among us. Typically, I don’t get sick that often. Maybe 1-2 times per year. When I do feel the germs coming on, I turn to my flu bomb recipe.
My flu bomb recipe is a mixture of ingredients from my kitchen that help me fight colds and viruses. I don’t turn to traditional medicine at the first sign of illness because it seems as if when I do, a full-blown cold takes over my body instantly. Instead, I use natural approaches at the beginning and only turn to traditional medicines as a last resort.
I am not a doctor, nor do I claim to be, but would love to share a recipe that works for me and my family. Please consult with your doctor before trying alternatives such as this.
Ingredients in my flu bomb
My warning? The flu bomb is not tasty but it has worked for me quite well. It’s made of:
- Hot water
- Tumeric
- Raw Honey
- Garlic
- Lemon Juice
- Cayenne Pepper
- Ginger
When do I drink it?
Typically, I make and drink this mixture when:
- I know I’ll fly on an airplane soon
- I feel a cold coming on
- I have to visit someone in the hospital
- I’ve already caught a cold and trying to get rid of it
My flu bomb recipe
Instructions
- Chop 1 clove of fresh garlic as small as you can
- Chop 1/2 inch of fresh ginger as small as you can
- Cut 1 lemon in half
- Using a heat-proof cup (mug or ball jar), add garlic and ginger and then squeeze one-half lemon.
- Add in a half a teaspoon of Tumeric
- Add in a pinch of cayenne pepper
- Add in 1 teaspoon of raw honey
- Lastly, add 2 cups of boiling water and mix
Once the water has cooled down, I drink the warm mixture. It sometimes helps me to put the mixture into a shot glass and take shots throughout the day.
Why does this work?
I believe my flu bomb has worked for me because of the many antiviral properties it has.
- Tumeric: Stimulates the immune system to fight colds and viruses
- Raw Honey: Has antimicrobial properties and helps soothe sore throats
- Garlic: Has antibacterial and antifungal properties
- Lemon Juice: Loaded with vitamin c
- Cayenne Pepper: May relieve fever and lower your body temperature by stimulating sweat glands
- Ginger: Has antiviral properties
