Hey Curlies,
I finally did I braid out and I loved the results. I haven’t done a braid out since my transitioning days and it didn’t turn out as well then.
I kept my braids in for 3 days and then I unbraided this morning. My hair was so much longer and wavy. It actually looked very nice until I went to work. I took the kids outside and the humidity hit it and it all went south.
I’ll be doing a tutorial on this within the next week 🙂
I have a few pics:

In order to be completely natural, you do have to do the big chop. This gets rid of the relaxed ends leaving you with you natural texture. You technically aren't "natural" until you have done the big chop. Till then, you are in the transitioning phase. Now you do not have to Big Chop right away, when is determined by you. I went a little over a year before I chopped. I wanted my natural texture to be a bit longer when I chopped. Below is the link for trimming and transitioning:

Do I have to get a big chop? Ppl say I basically have to because I once had a perm in my hair. I like my hair length & wanted to work with this. It's to my neck near shoulders. Am I nt considered natural because I don't want to cut my hair. How often should I trim my hair? I have no idea how to do it myself.
Thanks Anne 🙂 I'm starting to really like braid-outs.
During the time that you decide not to relax your hair anymore, that is "transitioning." It isn't a particular thing or process that you have to follow, just not applying a relaxer anymore. The day you went natural is the day you decide not to get your next relaxer. You are fully natural when you cut off your relaxed ends(Big Chop).Great questions!
I'm trying to be natural but I didn't know if I was supposed to transition first? I haven't worn a perm in almost a year. What's the process to transitioning? Sometimes the terms transition and natural confuses me. How do u determine the day u went natural? I've been going thru this process about a month. HELP!
Very nice. I did my first one too and I love how it stretch the hair. I used CURLS goddess gel and a little leave in condish from Cantu.
