Hey, Curlies!

I’m always looking for ways to find more peace. I truly think it’s the little things we do for ourselves each day that help keep us pushing ahead. In short, this is what I call mindfulness.

Mindfulness is finding ways to slow down and bring your attention to the present moment. It raises awareness of your own thoughts and feelings.

I practice this by going for short walks, disconnecting from my phone and mediating.

I added in another practice method when I stumbled upon these Mindfulness Cards while shopping at Silver in the City, a local gift shop here in Indy. You can also find them on Amazon here.

These cards contain prompts that help bring calmness, awareness and balance to the body. If you’re feeling out of whack, these cards can be a big help. It also helps that they take virtually no time out of your day.

Each card falls under one of these categories: Rest & Balance, Insight & Awareness, Curiosity & Joy, and Kindness. On the back of each card is more information.

How do I use these cards?

I sit the cards in a place where I’ll notice them daily, like the bathroom sink or my dresser. Each day, I pull one card from one category, read and reflect on it. I try to think how my life aligns with the prompt on the card.

Life moves so fast and there are so many moments I look back on wishing I was more present. I wished I wasn’t taking a photo of the moment, but enjoying it and soaking it all in. That’s where mindfulness comes in. It helps you get reacquainted with those moments.
