In many places around the world, people are on lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. Without your usual routine, it can be hard to continue with the things that keep your body and mind healthy.

It is important not to put lots of pressure on yourself to be doing tons of things with your time, but at the same time, you need to try and stick to a routine that can keep you healthy. Below are some things that you could try to do to ensure you are continuing to look after yourself during lockdown:

Stay on top of your hygiene

When you don’t have to be anywhere, it can be tempting to start skipping showers and other parts of your hygiene routine. Although it is okay to skip a shower now and then, it is not something that you want to get into the habit of. Showering can make a difference to your day, and make you feel more motivated to do other things. It is also an essential element of self-care.

Oral hygiene is very important, and skipping brushing your teeth before you go to bed, or any other time, can cause problems such as sensitivity and cavities that will need to be fixed straight away. If you have any problems with your teeth, don’t be afraid to get in touch with your dentist even during the lockdown as they should be available for emergencies such as fillings or wisdom teeth removal https://bestdentistinhouston.com/blog/wisdom-teeth-removal-cost/.

Exercise regularly

Even if you are not someone who goes out of their way to exercise regularly, it can be a good idea to do some sort of exercise while in lockdown. Being confined to your house means that you will more than likely be less active than usual. During your normal routine, you might have to walk or commute to work or enjoy spending time going out with friends. Even though they aren’t vigorous forms of exercise, they are still activities that were keeping you active. Now that it isn’t possible to do these things, you should try to do some sort of exercise.

It could be a daily walk to explore your local area and get some fresh air. You could put on some music and dance, or you could find some exercise videos on YouTube or some exercise instructors who are doing online classes. Include healthy food in your diet

When you are at home for longer than you are usually, you might start to snack more than you usually would. To ensure you are not snacking just on sugary and fatty foods, make sure that when you go shopping, you buy fruits and vegetables that you can easily reach for.

It may also be tempting to drink more alcohol than you usually would. This can become a problem if you are using alcohol to relieve stress, so try to make sure that you are doing other things that will help to reduce stress.

Have some fun

If you have extra free time, try to use it to have fun. Pick up a hobby that you haven’t done for a while, or that you have never had the chance to try. Play board games and quizzes with your friends online. Pamper yourself or try out new products on your hair. You could even decide to try and learn a new language. Not all your time has to be used productively. Doing something fun can help you to de-stress and feel happier.

Disconnect

Constantly scrolling online or being available to talk to others can be exhausting. There is so much information online via social media and news websites that you can become overwhelmed. Although it is essential to stay connected with your friends and family, it is also important to disconnect from the online world from time to time.

One of the best times to disconnect from social media is before you go to sleep. About an hour or so before bed, try to log off and spend your time doing things that will help you relax, such as reading, so that it is easier to fall asleep when you try.

When you do look at information and updates about COVID-19, make sure that you are visiting reputable websites and not believing everything that you read on social media.
