Being at home really made me rethink my exercise routine. Am I the only one? I went from going into the office everyday to practically moving just a few thousand steps per day. Sad, I know. So I had to do something. This is when I committed to including more exercise into my daily routine.

Each day for the last month I exercised for 20-30 minutes per day using YouTube videos. One of my motivations is my wedding. Every bride wants to look great in her wedding dress. While trying to hit my goals, I found that I didn’t need the gym as much as I thought.

Even without the benefit of a gym membership or personal trainer, there are lots of exercises that can be done as part of a daily routine that are easy enough, even for a beginner like me.

Whether you’re looking to lose weight and get overall physically fitter or want to tone a few areas, there’s an exercise routine out there for you! All you have to do is get started.

Delts, Arms and other Areas

This is an area I’ve been concentrating on since my wedding dress is strapless. I really want my arms to look good in those photos! Many men (and plenty of women) love that V-shaped torso that so many weight lifters and bodybuilders have, and want to achieve that look.

One of the main ways to get that kind of physique is to focus on the deltoids, the group of muscles located at the top of the arm, where it meets the shoulder. There are specific and focused delt exercises that will target those muscles and give you that broad-shouldered, slim-waisted aesthetic that you’re going for. Delt exercises are actually pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it.

Arm exercises are, too. And there are so many different versions of arm routines – from the super hardcore to just doing a few simple exercises at home with a soda bottle or hand weights. One of the benefits of working your arms is that you’ll see results really fast – toning your arms is surprisingly easy!

Weight Loss and Toning

There are plenty of at-home exercises you can do to lose weight and tone your overall physique. You want activities that are intense and contain a lot of cardio – i.e. gets your heart pumping. This could be anything from aerobics to dance to cycling to running – whatever your method of activity, as long as it gets the heart pumping fast, you’ll see results.

When paired with a nutritious eating plan and lots of water, you’ll lose weight no matter which exercise routine you choose. It’s all about burning more calories than you eat. It’s that simple.

Download a fitness tracker or purchase a step counter like a fitbit (I LOVE this fitness tracker!) to keep up with how many calories you’re burning, and get moving! You can choose exercises that tone specific areas, such as pilates for the stomach area, running to strengthen the legs, and so on. It’s all up to you! Just get that heart pumping!

Sports

Going to be honest here. I’m definitely not a sports chick, but others love them. For those who hate “working out” but want to get more fit, why not try a sport? Get outdoors and go swimming, play touch football or tennis, go hiking with your family, play an intense game of frisbee, or jump on the trampoline with your kids.

Fun sports activities are a great way to get in some added fitness and exercise without feeling like you’re having to work out. It feels more like play, and that’ll keep your mental health in optimum condition, too!
