Hey Curlies,
All my life – up until a few years ago – I’ve always poured my shampoo from a bottle. Then, I met my first shampoo bar. I instantly remember thinking, “what the hell am I supposed to do with this?”
After a few online searches, I watched how women cleansed their hair using a shampoo bar. Some of the process stuck to my brain, but most of it didn’t help me actually use it.
If you’re curious about shampoo bars, and how they actually work – I’m here for ya. I won’t leave you in the dark like I once was.
What is a shampoo bar?
A shampoo bar is the same concept as bar soap you’d use to cleanse your skin, except you use it for your hair. Many of them contain natural cleansers like bentonite clay or Rhassoul clay to make sure your scalp gets clean.
Shampoo bar v liquid shampoo
Let’s be honest here, liquid shampoo from the bottle is probably much easier to use, but don’t rule out a quality shampoo bar. Shampoo bars definitely have their perks.
Benefits of a shampoo bar
- Easy to travel with – no worries of product spilling/doesn’t take up a lot of space
- Usually contains fewer chemicals, drying ingredients and “fillers” than traditional shampoos
- Can be rubbed directly on the scalp – where your hair needs to be cleansed most
- Usually lasts a lot longer than liquid shampoos
- Doesn’t require any preservatives
So now on to how you actually use this thing, because that’s what you really want to know, right?
In the video above, I’m highlighting Bask & Bloom Essentials’ Rhassoul & Bentonite Clay Shampoo Bar. It’s also made with honey and amal powder.
