Confidence is a fickle thing. One minute you have it, and the next minute you’ve lost it and you may not even really know why. It’s important that you try to think carefully about what could have happened to cause this change, and understand that there are always things that can be done to boost your confidence. If you don’t believe what we’re saying, that’s okay, you will by the time that you have finished and you understand the kind of things we’re talking about. If you want your confidence back, then you’ve gotta get these things in order, so let’s find out what they are.
Dress To Be Happy
Immediately, one of the things that you should think about is the way that you dress. You might not actually realize just how much what you are wearing is impacting your confidence because it can be pretty subtle and happen over time. A lot of people choose to wear clothes that they think they should want to wear. They choose the clothes that are in fashion at the time or that are timeless so they don’t have to update their wardrobes every year. The problem with this is that a lot of them are not the kind of clothes that you actually want to be wearing.
If you have your own style, then this is what you should be rocking, not whatever society is deeming fashionable at any given time. When you choose your clothes and your outfits, you need to do so with what you like in mind, not what you think you should like. Choose the clothes that feel comfortable and that make you feel like the beautiful person that you are, because you deserve absolutely nothing less.
Who Is Surrounding You?
You have also got to take a look at the people that you have surrounding you, as they could be having a negative impact on your overall confidence. Trying to build confidence is difficult enough when we live in a society that profits off of the fact that there are people who don’t like certain aspects of themselves for no reason, but it’s even more difficult when you have the people around you tearing you down. Those that you have in your inner circle should be the ones that you trust more than anyone else, and the ones that want to see you succeed in everything that you do. They should not be people that you find you are constantly questioning, and constantly hurt your feelings with the things that they say.
If you ever feel as though there is someone in your life who is not a positive presence, then you need to talk to them as soon as you can. If you explain the way they are making you feel and how much their comments may be damaging you and they do not change this, then they should no longer be welcome in your life.
What Are Your Problem Areas?
Before you can really work on your confidence, you have got to understand what exactly your problem areas are. The reason we have to do this is because we want to be able to fully understand what it is that we want to change, and why. If the answer is because someone has made a snippy comment about something and it has in turn made you self conscious, you do not need to change, they do. However, if it is something that bothers you, and it is something that you are genuinely unhappy with, then there is nothing wrong with making some changes.
An example of this would be that some people are not comfortable with their weight and want to do something about this. We’re all a little insecure sometimes, but it’s harder for some than others, and if this is you then that’s okay. There are steps that you can take to build up your confidence here, whether you want to gain or lose weight doesn’t matter. For example, if you can look into something like semaglutide for weight loss in non diabetics if the usual diet and exercise isn’t working for you. If you want to gain weight, then we recommend speaking to a professional to get the advice that you need, just to be on the safe side.
The Opinions Of Others
Something that we all know massively contributes towards our confidence is the opinions of others. We know that we shouldn’t let the opinions of others get to us, right? But sometimes it happens anyway, and there’s not that much that you can do to stop it. But words only have the power to hurt us if we let them in, and allow them to do so. It’s easier said than done to block the words from getting to you, but we assure you that it is possible. One little trick that we have learned is to try and look at what they are saying objectively. Is what they are saying true? If so, does that bother you? If the answer is yes, you can change it, if the answer is no, then who cares what they think? On the other hand, if what they are saying isn’t true, then it doesn’t matter either way.
Another great idea to stop letting the opinions of random people bother you is to ask yourself one question: would you take advice from this person? If the answer is no, then there is absolutely no reason for you to be accepting criticism from them either. If the answer is yes, then you have to look at what they are saying, whether they are saying it with good or bad intentions and so much more. But, those you would take advice from would never intentionally hurt you, we hope!
Your Mental And Physical Health
Last but by no means least, your mental and physical health are going to have a lot of impact on the overall confidence that you have. If you have poor mental health and fantastic physical health or vice versa, this does not make you a healthy person overall as you have got to take care of all aspects of yourself. If you are feeling bad in your mind, this is going to reflect in the way that you represent yourself to the world. In the same way that if you are not looking after yourself physically, you are not going to feel good, meaning you won’t be confident in yourself.
Having confidence falls on your shoulders more than it falls on anyone else. How you feel is going to be more important than any other factor, which is why taking care of yourself is such an important task, and one that you should not be pushing to the side, even though sometimes it can be difficult to do this.
Hopefully now you have more of an understanding about some of the things that make up confidence in your life. Now that you have this knowledge, you can go back out into the world and try to make yourself as confident as you possibly can. We’re not saying that this is going to happen overnight, because it won’t. We’re also not saying that it’s going to be easy, because it more than likely isn’t going to be, but this doesn’t mean that you should give up. You can get to where you want to be and achieve confidence if you are willing to try, we promise that you can.
