Practicing mindfulness is one of the most effective ways to manage stress and stay on top of your mental health, but many people don’t know what mindfulness is or how they can introduce it into their daily lives.

Mindfulness isn’t complicated. It simply means giving all of your attention to the present moment and avoiding distractions. If you want to be more mindful in your everyday life, you need to start with your morning routine. When you create a mindful morning routine, it sets the tone for the day and you will find that you are more mindful without really thinking about it.

These are some of the best ways to create a mindful morning routine:

Start The Night Before

Your mindful morning routine starts the night before when you go to bed. If you don’t get a good night’s sleep, you will find it a lot harder to be mindful in the morning, so make sure that you get into a good routine, and avoid caffeine and alcohol because they can disrupt your sleep.

You should also avoid using your phone late at night as well because the light from the screen tricks your brain into thinking that it’s daytime and it will be harder to drift off.

Use A Morning Journal

Mindfulness is a skill that needs to be learned and practiced, and there are some great journals that can help you. If you get yourself a morning journal that helps you to plan your day and gives you questions for self-reflection and some great tips to help you stay on track, you can start your day in the right way.

Instead of scrolling through your phone and becoming overwhelmed with endless notifications, you can take a moment to reflect on the day and then plan things out so you are ready to face anything that life throws at you.

Give Gratitude

It’s easy to wake up and start stressing about all of the things that you have to do that day, but that’s not a good way to start your morning. If you want to achieve a positive mindset and learn how to be more mindful, you should start your day by giving gratitude to the things that you are thankful for.

Think about all of the good things in your life, like your friends and family, and be thankful for them. This will help you to start the day in a positive place and put things in perspective, so you are far less likely to stress about the small things that don’t really matter.

Avoid Technology

Technology can improve your life in a lot of different ways, but it’s not good for mindfulness. Your phone gives you access to unlimited information and news about events that are happening around the world, but that’s not what you should be focusing on when you are trying to be mindful in the mornings.

You should be focused on what is happening around you right now, and technology is a big distraction from that. It’s a good idea to switch your phone off at night so you aren’t tempted to use it in the morning. But if you need it turned on, you can download apps to help you reduce screen time by blocking everything apart from the necessary things, like calls and messages.

Follow these simple steps to create a mindful morning routine and you will notice a huge difference to your mental wellbeing throughout the day.
