Hey Curlies,

About a year ago, I told myself one thing – “I want to do more.”

This “more” had everything to do with my personal wellbeing and building ClassyCurlies. This made me realize, I need a real morning routine.

Not just any morning routine, but I wanted to establish a healthy routine that I wouldn’t dread in the morning. Curlies, I now call this my “Happy, Healthy Morning Routine.” Mouthful, I know.

So how did I develop my Happy, Healthy Morning Routine?

It all started when I decided to start waking up earlier. Honestly, that’s about 50 percent of this routine.

Normally, I would roll out of bed, head out the door and not come back home until after 6 p.m. I’d spend 2-3 hours finishing up things for ClassyCurlies.com (producing Curly Conversations, writing a blog post, filming a video, meeting with a client, etc.), eat dinner, go to bed and start all over.

I quickly realized, that’s no way to live, and that’s not how I’m going to achieve my goals.

Once I started waking up 2-3 hours earlier, it was a game changer.

What was on my to-do list at 5 a.m.?

My initial problem was, it seemed like there just wasn’t enough time in the day. Between ClassyCurlies content, meetings, client work, trying to eat and breathe – I just needed…more time. So, I decided to set my alarm earlier.

It’s not just setting the alarm earlier that works. You need to be mentally prepared to spring up hours earlier than your normal time without hitting the snooze button.

Here’s what I started including into my new Happy, Healthy Morning Routine:

  • More time to work on ClassyCurlies content
  • Stretching and meditation
  • Cup of tea – without distractions (you all know how much tea means to me!)
  • Eating a real (and healthy) breakfast

What was my motivation?

You wonderful ladies. I’ve known for several years that I have a gift for writing and producing content. I also know there is a demand for natural hair tips. What I didn’t know was all the other things you all were expecting – tips on living a more healthier lifestyle and just general wellness advice ( like how to be happy – check out my blog post on this).

The more emails and comments I get from women around the world about their beauty and inner struggles, it reminds me that I have a job to do.

You may be one of those people who develops a super bomb to-do list the night before. You have great intentions on waking up earlier, exercising or even just finding some quiet time – but you chicken out when the alarm goes off.

Pretend the snooze button doesn’t exist. Get up earlier like your life depends on it, because well, it kind of does.
